Hello out there :0)
I am hoping that you all will relate to how I've been feeling lately, because I vaguely remember feeling this same way 3 years ago while I was going through the college selection process...
Let me begin by saying that I love my life, my friends & family and my decision to make Albright my collegiate home... however, lately I've kinda forgotten all these things because I've felt SOOO extremely overwhelmed. As a freshman (in college or high school) we're so care free and enjoy all the moments of being young... but then we join a sport or a club, then another club because our friend is in, then we have to have a part time job because we need to pay for gas and car insurance, ooo and then there's that community service that we're doing to put on our college apps and resumes and also scouting/touring the northeast, or perhaps all of america in search of our next home. (If you haven't noticed, I say we... because I am experiencing this too... again, so the end of this cycle is nowhere in site). By having several on campus jobs, some of which I have taken extra responsibilites and commitment, being a full time student and also searching for summer internships and beefing up my resume... I have felt extremely old and worn, nothing like a 21 year old college student should feel like.
So, this weekend I took back my age and 21 year old self and celebrated! While I worked hard on Friday and Saturday, I did so with the knowledge of playing hard this weekend too and it was worth it. Sat. night saw my boyfriend and I going to the Reading Royals last hockey game of the season with 2 Albright Alum's who came down for the annual Albright Alumni Game. The game was awesome as it went into overtime, despite the fact that Readin ultimately lost 4-3... but there were also great fights! The night proceeded expectations by partying with the majority of the frisbee team and alum's and playing night frisbee (complete with light up disc). On Sunday the Alumni game proved that the old guys haven't lost a step and gave the seniors something to play for and also showed the underclassmen something to aspire to in ther terms of touchdown glory, haha! It was really great to experience a care-free weekend and just enjoy being surrounded by good friends including some who we only see once a year and also making the most out of a gorgeous spring day!
I am hoping to ride the high that this weekend brought through this week into Easter break, because it's going to be a though one: evolution and conservation bio exams (back to back) and a 10 pg molecular genetics paper all due on Wed! So, needless to say I am going to cut this one short and get studying, but definitely talk to you after break! Don't forget to get out in the nice weather, color some easter eggs & eat chocolate after Lent is over (or a whopper jr and fries in my case! haha).
Take back your age (trust me it's worth it) and enjoy the little moments,
~*Sara
