Albright College

So friday is my first field trip... well not first ever but first in the shoes that I am wearing (aka) being the teacher! My 5th grade class at Earl Elementary School are going to the Pennsylvania Colonial Plantation in Media, PA! I am very excited to go to the plantation because I remember going there when I was younger so memories are there and will be evoked on the trip. But this time I am the teacher which is a neat experience for me because I have my own group of students to chaperon and look over. Though I will be enjoying the time there, exploring the planation grounds there is a more important job that I have and that is to oversee the children. I found that I am turning more and more into a teacher everyday that I step foot into the classroom. My level of questioning with the students has strengthened tremendously not to mention my ability to develop a diverse teaching pattern that appeals to each student and most importantly effective.
Through my first placement and second placement of student teaching I have had the ability to work with children of various learning abilities ranging from autistic, ADHD, gifted, and those that have short term memory. You don't realize how much of a help you are in the classroom until you see the smile on that childs face when the get the right answer. It is very impoweing and emotional to me when I see a student that has been struggling finally push through and understand a concept that might take a day for one student to learn but three days for another.
I am currently in the process of applying for jobs and I have to admit that it is scary but very exciting to finally see the light. By light I mean the accomplishment of a lifetime, what I have been working my life to get to and I am doing it and I must say that I am proud of myself.
If it was not for my confidence, persistence, and ambition I wouldn't be in the spot that I am today. But out of everything in my life that has pushed me to be my best my number one fan is my wonderful family and boyfriend. They have seen me at my worst and best and never stopped believing in me and I have alot of them to thank. The professors at Albright are who I call friends not teachers. I have made everlasting friendships and will always remember those professors that made a lasting impression on me and gave me enough courage! Thank you Albright!

<3 always,

Christina
