Albright College

When you go visit a college/university and go on that college tour, you are bound to hear many aspects of the collegiate package that the school can provide you, state of the art academic buildings, luxurious dorms, good cafe food, great athletic teams etc etc. As a tour guide myself for Albright's Admission office, one day after a tour I really began to analyze what I told people on tour. It seems for me that my tour covers a lot of the standard "tour items" such as buildings, food, sports and organizations, but there is definitely a more dominant theme -- community and professors.

One thing that I really enjoy about this campus is the interaction students are able to have with faculty, administration, and collegiate staff. Yes of course, your Professors are your teachers but they are much more than that. They are your mentors and your friends as well, people that you turn to for guidance and support.

Now I can continue to generalize this and let you infer what this all means, but I will be more specific. Over the past couple of weeks, I have had many impressive interactions with the faculty that I believe are noteworthy to talk about.

One of our professors here, Dr. Martin, has been helping me search for an internship opportunity this summer with an investment firm for the past couple of months. He has forwarded my resume to many prospective internship offers and has provided me career guidance and exploration along the way. I am happy to say that as of a week and a half ago I received an internship opportunity that Dr. Martin recommended me for. (Thanks Dr. Martin!)
[I have not even had him for a class]

Still on the internship opportunities, the Career Development Center, Laura Crawford-Kline in particular, has personally called me on several occasions to let me know what internship opportunities and other career activities and events that Albright offers that can help me out later in life.

A couple of my professors and administrators have really helped me out this past semester. All of them have provided guidance but more importantly they have served as influential friends; people who I can just sit down at Jake's Java with and talk about life.

I could go on and on but I just thought I would share my encounters with some pretty incredible staff members on our campus and to further emphasize that Albright is a giant support system that instills a sense of community and kinship as soon as you enter this campus.
