Atlantic Records Experience

I would like to take this blog time to talk a little bit about my internship. ITS AWESOME!! Thank you career development center!! For those of you who don't know, I'm interning in New York City with Atlantic Records, one of the big time record labels in the US. Believe it or not, Jay-Z was in my office hanging out on my first day. I couldn't even speak. This was around the time when we were working on his new album and trying to promote it with radio stations.

I had never thought I would be working in the music industry at all since I'm just a business management major. But I love it. I can definitely see myself working in the music industry. Its such an awesome atmosphere/environment to work in. I have also met an alum from Albright who works there, Paul, who is senior vice president of digital media & business development. Hes a great guy and he invited me up to his office on the 28th floor of where we work to hang out but I have yet had time to visit him.

I have seen a bunch of artists in my department since I've been interning there including Jay-Z as I said before, Shinedown, Mayday Parade, Zac Brown Band, and a couple others that I'm not even sure about. I'm not very good with recognizing the faces of band members but I'm pretty sure I've seen more than that. I've also worked with many of their managers which is cool. Alot of them are very young which surprised me. Another thing that surprised me is that I think the majority of the people who worked at Atlantic were female. I was really shocked but its cool haha.

So I will keep everyone updated on my awesome internship. I think the only bad part about it is the commute which is really long and gets really expensive after a while but the experience is definitely worth it. I'm excited for the rest of my semester!
