Albright College

Things have been pretty crazy the past couple of weeks, so I'm going to recap some of the highlights.

Classes have been going well. They are all starting to get busy at the same time as well as all of my activities, but I'm just going to have to fight through it. Last weekend I went to see Saw 6 with a group of friends, and the movie was very good. So if you are a Saw fan and have not seen the new movie, I recommend it. I love those types of movies that keep you guessing throughout the movie, then at the end they throw you a curveball.

I don't know if I've mentioned this in here before, but I am currently pledging a fraternity on campus, Alpha Sigma Phi. I'll admit, it has been a bit stressful balancing classes, pledging, other clubs, but I'm making it work. Plus, everyone has done a great job helping me work around my schedule. It has been an awesome experience thus far. The guys are absolutely awesome, and I've had some great times getting to know them over the past few weeks. With Alpha Sigma Phi, I was a part of the planning of a formal dinner this past Friday. I just want to say something to all of those out there who plan events: bless you. It was so stressful trying to organize the food, how to set up the room, how to gather materials, and then dealing with last second problems. Once it was over and I could reflect, it was a great experience. I'd planned other events before, but not the whole thing from scratch like this one. I definitely learned a lot from this dinner.

Now going backwards, Tuesday of this past week I helped organize a dorm storm for the Relay for Life team here on campus. I'm the captain of the Relay team here, and for those of you not familiar with the Relay for Life, it is an event run by the American Cancer Society. We fundraise throughout the year, and then in late April/early May we attend the Relay event at the local baseball stadium. The Relay is a 24 hour walk, symbolizing that the fight for cancer never sleeps, and it is a great event to go to. It's a great day to celebrate all that the team has accomplished, but also a time to remember those who have died from cancer. Defining another term, a dorm storm is when we knock on people's doors in the dorms and ask if they have any spare change. The Relay team combined with the brothers of Alpha Sigma Phi to do the dorm storm and we raised a little over $250! I want to thank all of those who helped collect money and anyone reading this who may have donated!

Those were the highlights of my week. Phillies disappointed me last night...that one hurt. Tonight is almost a must win...so hopefully they can pull it off. GO PHILS!
