Albright College

So over the past couple of days I have been extremely busy with the Student Government Assocation (SGA). For those of us who are on SGA, it's our life, we live for it, we love serving students. But for students on our campus, I feel like I might be able to give you a glimpse of what SGA really does.

Now if I were to go into great detail of everything that our Student Government does on campus, I would have to write a novel and hopefully await for it to appear on the shelves of the nearest Barnes and Nobles, so I figured I'd give you a little taste of what it is that we (SGA) do. [I am actually writing an article for our newspaper on SGA, so keep your eyes peeled for that!]

As the name states, the Student Government Association is the governing body of Albright College. One of the main reasons why I love Albright is because of the close knit community that it provides and I feel our SGA has an important part in that community. The SGA is the voice of Albright College. We are the leaders that students go to when they are not satisfied with how things are being run. We then take those suggestions/concerns through the proper channels so that they can be solved. (See at Albright, you really do have a voice in what happens on campus, whether you are on SGA or not)

As a SGA member, we not only try to help student's out, but we strive to make Albright a better place for those students. Whether it be providing a community service project for students to get involved in, hosting a conference where students can learn valuable leadership skills, or changing the availability of resources on our campus for students to use, we enjoy it.

One of the most critical parts of being on SGA is being able to relate to students. As SGA members, we want to communicate to students that we are ALWAYS available to help students out and to try to guide them in the right direction. We want students to have the best Albright experience as possible and we are willing to go the extra miles to secure that incredible collegiate experience.

Recently, we were responsible with distributing funds to student organizations so that they have the financial means to go to conferences and host events, activities and in the upcoming months we will be planning a huge concert event for our students as well.

Though being on SGA is always a demanding job and requires a lot of hard work and dedication to Albright College's mission, I feel pretty confident in saying that all of our SGA members genuinely enjoy serving our students and look forward to the challenges and goals ahead of us.
