A secret note in my room......who would have thought?

So I just started cleaning my room out for the school year...and I go under my bed and find a piece of paper hidden all the way in the back with handwriting that i didn't recognize so I decided to read it. Here is what it said: Dear new roomies in F301 My name is *** I lived in this room for the whole year! **** and I moved in here and loved it. She left halfway through the year so this was my complete home for a while! I have had so many memories in this room and I hope it gives you just as ma… Continue

Spring Concert 2009

So I am actually relaxing right now because we just had our gospel choir's annual spring concert last night. It was amazing! We had a great turn-out, honored some pretty great seniors, and sang our hearts out! Check out the pics! <3 Britt Continue

Sunshine for an Open House?

So for as long as I have been an ambassador, every open house has been taken over by Mother Nature and has either been dominated by snow, rain, sleet, hail, flying little people...you know...the normal stuff. However I have been checking the weather for the week and I see sunshine in the forcast. Now I do wear glasses so several times I took off my glasses, rubbed my eyes a little bit...thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. However to my amazement that high of 62 a sunny stayed the same!!!… Continue

From Jamiaca to nothing..

So this time last year, I was packing for a 6 night 7 day stay in Jamaica with 5 other close friends from Albright. We went for spring break and had the most wonderfuless bestest time of our lives(hows that English coming from a junior in college;).... Anyway this year I am packing for a 10 night, 11 day stay in....CHESTER PA. Yeah. I definately was sad that I am not going to be able to go to a wonderful place like Jamaica again this year, but my friends and I decided to make the best of the s… Continue

Black History Month

So it has been awhile but the reason why I have been so preoccupied is that I have been very involved in our new and wonderful black history month committee. We have been doing some amazing things for this month in recognition of black history. Every friday there has been a movie night in which we showed movies like Hurricane and The Great Debators. Also we had a dinner and talent night, an Apollo cafe night, our own Black and Wax museum and are planning to end it next Saturday with the annual W… Continue

Interim...a bad thing?

So this is the first time being at Albright that I have had to take a class over Interim...and I'm not gonna lie, at first I wasn't too happy about it. I love my 6 week vacation from school from the middle of December to the end of January. However, this time I found out that I needed to catch up on one credit in order to be on track so I could graduate on time next may(2010!)...So here I am taking Social Problems...and after one day of classes..it's not that bad. Alot of my friends are up here,… Continue

And the Countdown Begins

Sorry for my lack in my blog postings but I think everyone here can vouch for me when I say that the end of the semester is ridiculous!!! Today starts the countdown for all the madness. I will be using the next two days to prepare for the African American Society's Kwanzaa Dinner Wednesday night at 6 p.m. Then Friday is the Gospel Ensemble's Candlelight Concert. Saturday I have a break where I get to sit back and enjoy the Xion Step Team's show, but it's back to craziness Sunday for the S.A.I.D.… Continue

All I can say is that I am proud...

If you have been living under a rock the past couple of days then I should let you in on a little secret...Barack Obama is the next president of the United States of America!! This election has been so very special to me for many reasons. First, being that this was the first year I was allowed to vote, I was very excited, but to be able to vote for a candidate that I truly loved, made it even better. Then, for that candidate to be the first African-American elected president, I am simply overjoy… Continue

It's Okay To Have a Sick Day

It's hard for me to say...but it is okay to have a sick day..haha I am a poet and I didn't know it:) Honestly though I've come to the conclusion that it is okay for me to call out one day just to sleep and get my health together if need be, and that's exactly what I am doing...so good night!:) <3 Britt Continue

Joy Night!

Once again Albright College Gospel Ensemble did it again with another successful College Choir Night/Joy Night 2008!! This year Joy Night hosted Rowan Univerisity's and Lebanon Valley's Gospel choirs, and of course the wonderful, marvelous, extraordinary Albright College Gospel Ensemble:) Being the vice president of the choir, it does have an extra special place in my heart. Besides the choirs singing, there was spoken word, praise dance, mime and so much more. I always look forward to Joy Night… Continue

What is sleep?

This past weekend was definately one of the best that I have had so far this year at Albright. Homecoming is always special here, but for some reason this year was extra special. We started out with Airbands in which 5 organizations competed with skits, dances, steps and more. I'm not gonna lie, Phi Mu and Xion Step Team were crazy good!! Afterwards many of my friends who were alumni came up for the weekend and we wound up staying up until 6 in the morning just catching up..which wasnt too great… Continue

Going "home"

Last weekend into Tuesday of this week Albright had Fall Break. I am sure that I can speak for everyone when I say that we were all excited to go home. For me, this was my first time that I was able to go home since the summertime, so I was extra excited. Being home is always great! You're able to sleep in your own bed, take a shower without shower shoes for as long as you want, and nothing beats a home cooked meal:) However after sometime, you find yourself discussing the idea of you going back… Continue

Are you registered?

Since today is the last day for Pennsylvania residents to register to vote, I thought I would use this space to talk about what Albright has been doing to help the cause. The African American Society, with the help of the Berks County Barack Obama campaign has helped to register almost 200 Albright students to vote, doubly the original amount. Yay us!! It was very surprising to find out the low amount of students who are registered. What people don't realize is that this is probably the biggest… Continue

Xion Party

Last night was the Xion Step Team's annual dance party on campus. Their theme was red, black and white in celebration of their 10 year anniversary. Xion typically has a step show and after party every semester, so this mid-semester party is always an added bonus. Everyone had been looking forward to this party all semester and it definately was an event to remember. We all stepped out in our best clothes and danced the night away. It was definately a great time:) <3 Britt Continue

Miami Ink?

Yesterday I got my 3rd tattoo...and I am in love with it!! My first one is a small one on the top of my arm and it says strength with a cross and a sunflower The second one is a hugeeeeeeeeee black baby angel on the side of my back. The new addition is the letter B on my ankle with a dolphin and daffodils. People always ask me why I love tattoos so much, and I think the reason I do is because they seperate myself from everyone else. The tattoos I decide to get aren't just random things to do. I… Continue

Almost 3 weeks already?!

Time seriously moves soooo fast. I can't believe that I am already halfway done the 3rd week of my junior year. It seems like only yesterday I was moving out in May, and now we're already back in force. I've come to the conclusion that I don't want to waste any time because clearly time is way to precious to take advantage of it. I don't want to look back on anything and wish I could have used my time in a more productive way. I want to make every second count because clearly time won't slow dow… Continue

A.A.S.

Ok so yesterday evening was this semester's first meeting of the African American Society, and I have to say that I was soooo impressed and happy with the turn-out. Not only did we have a lot of new freshman, but also upperclass students who joined as well. This meeting was spent to simply introduce ourselves and the organization. We also asked a fairly general question of everyone: How do you feel being a minority at Albright? To my pleasure, everyone expressed how at home they felt here. They… Continue
