HELLOOOO WISCONSIN!

Hi everyone, These last few weeks have been a whirlwind! Crazy amount of exams and homework right up until Easter and then finally able to relax for a few days at home. However, all too soon it was back to Albright, but only for a few days because on Wed. afternoon 2 other students, myself and our 3 advisors made our way to the Philly airport. After a pit stop in Minnesota, we arrived in Lacrosse, WI around 11:30pm and I didn't fall asleep until after 1:00AM (2AM our time). Haha, needless to da… Continue

Taking Back Your Age

Hello out there :0) I am hoping that you all will relate to how I've been feeling lately, because I vaguely remember feeling this same way 3 years ago while I was going through the college selection process... Let me begin by saying that I love my life, my friends & family and my decision to make Albright my collegiate home... however, lately I've kinda forgotten all these things because I've felt SOOO extremely overwhelmed. As a freshman (in college or high school) we're so care free and… Continue

170-Almost-Free-Dollars

Hi everyone! I am back at the 'Bright and refreshed after a week of relaxation at home. I really don't know why I bring my backpack full of books home... because I am notorious for not doing any of it! It's so hard to feel studious at home, it just doesn't have that academic pressure surrounding it and I find myself just enjoying time with the family and watching "idiot television" (term referring to reality tv by my my friends and I). So, now it's back to the grind and I also am taking GIS (ge… Continue

The "Hurry Sneakers"

Hi everyone, I don't know how many of you have siblings, but if you do... I imagine you can relate to my latest experience. I have 3 younger brothers: Josh & Jared are 13 (and twins) and my youngest brother Tristen, who's 11. They came down to visit me and the Albright campus with my dad last weekend, and it was awesome! We played some basketball in the Bowman Center, played with the frisbee on Kelchner field and even some pool & fooseball in the rec center! I think they had a good time… Continue

Anywhere But Home!!

Hey there, So, now that last week has finally passed I can sleep & find time to blog! It was just a crazy schedule: 3 exams, 3 short write ups, readings, applying for internships & also coordinating overnight stays for the Honor's Dinner on March 1st-2nd. Unfortunately, mother nature didn't realize how much work we at the Admissions office had put in, because she decided to douse us with snow and force the cancellation of the dinner. I am really sorry to everyone that was planning on co… Continue

Nightmare on Saturday morning

Soooo I have been kinda busy lately, and I am sorry that I haven't blogged in forever, but I was so busy and losing my mind that I thought for sure that I had blogged sometime last week. Does that ever happen to you? haha, anyway I had the best intentions even though I did not blog afterall! So I woke up at 7:50AM on Sat. morning (after being up on duty until 2AM) in a panic thinking I was late for my 8AM evolution class (which I was dreaming that I was late for). What a terrible way to start a… Continue

Feeling the Burn

So the spring semester is in full swing and I am just trying to keep my head above the water! Last Wed. we had a much needed snow day, which should have been spent getting an early start on papers or reading assignments... but instead I watched 3 movies during the day and bummed around with friends. Honestly, I needed the day off to just relax and get back into the academic mind set after the crazy, busy interim of Australia! I stil haven't put pictures up on the faces site (and I am SORRY!) but… Continue

We've All Gone "Troppo"!

Hey everyone, These last 12 days at the field station have resulted in my traveling companions and I to go "troppo" (an Aussie term for going tropical-ie, crazy) while we were bombarded by cyclone Charlotte (a southern hemisphere hurricane). It poured for 2 days and it resulted in some strange random dance parties and a whole lot of new card games! The sun has re-emerged and we were able to conduct our field projects successfully. I went out 6 mornings to observe 2 colonies of flying foxes (the… Continue

New Fuzzy and Sticky Friends

Good day everyone! I am reporting from the Atherton tablelands in Queensland, Australia. I am staying at the School for Field Studies in the rainforest and preparing to embark on research on flying foxes (aka giant fruit bats). But before arriving here at the field station, we were staying in Cairns and enjoying some tourist time, where I got to go to the zoo and pet/feed a kangoroo AND hold a koala bear. His name was buster and he was SOOO incredibly cute. A group of us also got to swim with t… Continue

Tis' the Season

Hi!!!! So today for me was a day that it is celebrated among all college students far and wide: I finished my last finals & my fall semester!! hooray! But I am still rushing around to finish a roll of film for my photography class (not that I need to make more prints... but it was a lot of fun, so I took some pictures just for me). So, I am still getting up super early tomorrow to go make some prints from my new negatives before I begin checking out my freshman residents to go home. It is s… Continue

It's OVER... & now packing AGAIN!

Hi everyone, I hope everyone got to enjoy some turkey & stuffing... I definitely did :0) But this week was jam-packed with the typical "crunch week" reports and papers due. Today at 4:53 I turned in my last paper, haha and just before the 5 o'clock deadline! I am finally ready to sleep in & not stress, however this will only be temporary because next week is finals. It's kinda all down hill now & I am looking forward to going home for a few weeks, which means I need to start packing… Continue

A Rather Large Price to Pay

Hiiii everyone! So remember how I was so happy to have a free weekend? haha, well I am definitely paying for it now... I guess there really are no free weekends in college. Oooo well, it was an amazing weekend and I wouldn't change a thing! A group of the ultimate frisbee team and I went to The Brass (a bar) to see one of our former professors Speese play with his band. Speese's band is called Cloud Party (look it up, they're pretty good!) and we were there all night until the bar closed at 2AM… Continue

What? A FREE weekend?

Hey gang, This last month has gone by incredibly fast... and now we are approaching the last couple weeks of the semester!! Which means, lots of last minute work and definitely a lot less sleep. Albright has been particularly busy with several Sat. Open Houses from the Admissions Office and Campus Events like pumpkin carving, campus halloween party, athletic play-offs, and now the Domino Players are opening Love Labour's Lost tonight! I am hoping to get to the play next weekend after I get most… Continue

Yo Hoy A Pirate's Life for Me!

Hi everyone! Sorry it's been awhile since the last blog, I started this one a week ago, and never got back to it until today because it's another crunch week for me....ahh to be a science major! I just took my evolutioanry psych exam last tuesday, friday was a vertebrate physiology exam & and today was an ecology exam. I know the professors don't mean to schedule their exams all at once... but they do! And it makes my life extremely stressful! haha, but I am managing, and at least they are… Continue

To be or not to be... a pirate?

Hiiii! So I am writing to you on the most sacred and rare days... a day with NO classes! As a science major, this is especially rare not to have 1 class or lab on any given day. How did this happen you may ask? Well, I am taking photography this year for my fine arts credit, which is mon. & wed. class... so my only class on Friday is vertebrate physiology, AND my professor is gone to a bat symposium, soooo no classes for me today. I began my morning, by not beginning it at all! haha, normal… Continue

A New Adventure to the Land Down Under

Hey gang, We are all back at the 'bright from fall break last weekend. It was sooo relaxing to be at home & just spend time with my family... haha, however I did have homework to do, so this week has been spent catching up on it all. No regrets for my procrastination though, I needed to chill for a few days. This weekend is Homecoming~which means that there are all sorts of events going on... such as Airbands, where student organizations do skits/dance routines and compete for the sought af… Continue

Finding Your Niche

Hey all, Sorry I haven't blogged in awhile... things have been even crazier than usual. Last week I had to go home unexpectedly for a funeral, and while the preparations for going home were hurried...it made me realize how supportive the Albright community really is. All of my professors were extremely supportive and accomidating, and I felt like they really cared about me. During times of unsteadiness it is comforting to feel a part of a community like this. Albright is a small campus, where f… Continue

Words of Wisdom from Mom

My mom often forwards me on funny emails or occasionally mails me comic strips. This past week I received one that I couldn't help but share with every woman that I saw that day. Seeing everyone's reaction to it, I think it's ownly appropriate to pass it on. These are words of wisdom and encouragement for all woman who sometimes get frustrated with guys. Apples and Wine "Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the… Continue

Birthday Week Mayhem!

Hi everyone, This past week has been completely crazy! This is the one time of the year that my mailbox is stuffed full with mail... yepp, it was my birthday on Monday. Mail is a sacred thing at college... everyone wants some, so keep sending it mom & dad! It's a nice suprise to find something in your mailbox & know someone is thinking of you. Besides getting mail last week, I also went with some of my girls to the Taylor Swift and Racsal Flatts concert in Camden, NJ!!! It was AMAZING,… Continue
