These last 12 days at the field station have resulted in my traveling companions and I to go "troppo" (an Aussie term for going tropical-ie, crazy) while we were bombarded by cyclone Charlotte (a southern hemisphere hurricane). I am reporting from the Atherton tablelands in Queensland, Australia. I am staying at the School for Field Studies in the rainforest and preparing to embark on research on flying foxes (aka giant fruit bats).
