A long week!
So for this week of work I had a lot to do! I started to get in touch with one of the lead rangers that deal with the deer management project here in Rock Creek Park. I decided to do my program specific project that is for my program advisor assignments. It has to be a write up that deals with STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). In this write up I need to address the social and cultural aspects that go along with this project. Rock Creek had decided to manage its deer…

So now that swim season is over, I have been filling in my extra time at my internship with the Reading Fightin Phils, previously known as the Reading Phillies before their rebranding. I go to the internship three days a week for about four each day. Right now we are prepping for the upcoming season by sending out season tickets to the holders and making group sales calls promote different days and promotions going on throughout the year. I was also given the very exciting task of planning…

March Madness
At my internship we had a March Madness Party during lunch, which was so much fun! There was so much food at the event including pizza, fruit, and cake. The party was a nice break from the day and it was wonderful talking with some of the other Herbein employees. At the party, some of the basketball games for March Madness were streamed on the big screen. After the fun break, it was back to work doing the returns. Not only is March Madness in the basketball world going on but also in the tax…

Say No To Snow
It is March 25th and I have awoken to a snowy Reading, PA. This is not spring weather! Although I am not quite happy about the weather, I am excited to know that Easter is this coming weekend which means I will be able to spend some time at home. After my hectic schedule with classes, working and softball, some down time will be nice.
The softball team is getting better as the season progresses. The team just took home a sweep at Penn State Harrisburg which felt really good!…

Snow?!
I walked out my front door this morning and was happily surprised to find out that it was fairly nice out! Much nicer than it has been, at least. But you can imagine I was even more surprised to find out that we are supposed to get a couple inches of snow tonight! I have heard 3-5 and 5-8 inches. WHAT?! I'm tired of this cold weather! I want spring! BOOO SNOW!

Marine Biology Trip
This weekend, my Marine and Aquatics class went to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware to perform various studies. It was an exciting weekend with the class because we were able to study species diversity at the beach versus marsh areas. We also wore hip weighters in the water so we can catch different organisms. We spotted a spider crab, a lot of shrimp, fish, and many more creatures of the sea. The trip was cold but I know…

Back From Break!
So apparently it was Spring Break last week although I didn't see any "Spring" about it. It rained almost every single day when I was back home in Seattle (obviously) and currently here at Albright it's snowing and sleeting. What is this?! I thought Spring Break meant the start of nice weather? Let's hope we get some sun soon!
Either way I had a fantastic time being home for a week! I got to spend a lot of quality time with my family and see some friends as well. I visited my…

Back at School
Hey everyone I'm back after a nice and relaxing Spring Break. It was not as warm as I would have liked it but fun none the less. I got to visit with my friends and family a lot over break which I loved doing. Also I got a lot of work done so that I am on the ball for my classes. While home I coached my old high school pole vaulters which was a ton of fun. They are really coming a long and we have some great new recruits. I cannot wait till I can see them jump in competition. Now that I am…

Sixth Grade!
Today was my second day in Sixth grade! AHHH! This is a very big change from my little first graders! There is so much more structure and the students actually sit quietly in their seats! It is definitely going to take come getting used to, but I will adjust. I guess I won't be doing any more spelling lessons with shaving cream :( But anyway, I am teaching English and reading! I have 6 classes everyday! I get to see a lot of different faces. I am looking forward to all of these new…

Mid Semester
So we have finally reached midterms week. Other than finals this is the most stressful time for students. How do I battle the stress? I balance studying for exams and writing papers with some fun activities as well. I go to events on campus or just sit back and watch a movie. A movie with good friends is a great way to relieve stress. Also after midterms comes spring break. I cannot wait to finally get home and try to relax. I have some work to do over break, but not a ton. I just wanted to…

WHAT A WEEKEND!
SOOOOO… Ordinary Days went extremely well! We had four amazing crowds and even SOLD OUT on our Friday night performance! What an incredible feeling! Everyone seemed to respond so well and genuinely enjoy themselves. I’ve gotten nothing but good reviews so far so that has been quite a boost to my confidence!
Every year, Albright enters their main stage productions into the Kennedy Center Festival (KCACTF) and they send a respondent out to experience the show and share their…

From Start to Finish
My internship is going very well and I feel that I am able to do more returns in a shorter amount of time. I even have to say that the tax field is growing on me a little bit. I am also doing tax returns through the scan system, which means all of the documents for the return gets scanned in, then I verify the information, and then I submit the return to the reviewer. It is a pretty neat system that makes the process faster. On Friday, I had the opportunity to sit in on a client interview,…

Busy weekend at Albright
There were a lot of different events going on at Albright this weekend including a trip to Hawk Mountain, the Philadelphia Union, a musical by the Domino Players, and the choir concert. Not to mention all of the sporting events this weekend. On Sunday POPS (Peer Orientation Person) selection was held, which is when Steering Committee selects all of the POPs for Orientation. We had a lot of great candidates and had an awesome time with interviews and activities. After POPs interviews I went…

My Return To The Stage
I hadn't been on stage since freshman year when I was cast in Our Lady of 121st Street, but I had a great time performing in Short & Sweet. Short & Sweet was actually a collection of short plays written by Professor Matt Fotis and three students who took his play writing course in the fall. I was featured as "Pupa" in The Butterfly Effect and as the titular character in Oedipus: A Prequel. I had a great time bonding with the cast and getting to know Matt as a new professor and…

What do you want to be when you grow up? I mean, they have been asking us this question since we were so young, and really, it becomes such a source of stress once we graduate from high school and realize that we actually have to make some choices based on that very question. What school are you going to choose, what major will you take and what classes are you going to begin with?
I watched a video this week that inspired some serious thinking. It was about making your life about…
