And the Countdown Begins

Sorry for my lack in my blog postings but I think everyone here can vouch for me when I say that the end of the semester is ridiculous!!! Today starts the countdown for all the madness. I will be using the next two days to prepare for the African American Society's Kwanzaa Dinner Wednesday night at 6 p.m. Then Friday is the Gospel Ensemble's Candlelight Concert. Saturday I have a break where I get to sit back and enjoy the Xion Step Team's show, but it's back to craziness Sunday for the… Continue

Pineapple Orange Juice = Jared's HOME!

So I realized the other day how easy it is for someone to figure out I'm making an appearance at home! I decided to surprise my father a few weeks ago by showing up at home and taking him to see the new James Bond Movie: 007 Quantum Solace (see it, it's good!). So I told my mom and brother the plans and decided to arrive Friday evening around dinner time to surprise my dad. During the day leading up to my arrival, my mom sent my little brother shopping to pick up a few things, and of course… Continue

Why One Should Be Thankful

The reason why I enjoy Thanksgiving so much is because it is one of those holidays where we reflect on our lives and express who and what we are thankful for. I must personally admit that I should do this more often than I do now (perhaps a New Years Resolution?), but I think that it is awesome that one day can bring family and friends together to reflect on what they are truly thankful for.

Thanksgiving is one of my two favorite holidays and to be honest, I feel that it might be my… Continue

Thanksgivingssssendfunnessss

Good Afternoon!

Our run of Love's Labor's Lost is over but, does that mean the rest of the semester will just breeze by? Of course not! Many many exciting events are yet to come! Namely our student director showcase performs the week we get back from Thanksgiving break. (Dec. 2nd and 4th at 8:00 pm in the Wachovia theatre! be there! its freeeee!) Myself and three other students from the advanced acting class are performing most of the scenes from David Mamet's Sexual Perversity… Continue

M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E

Large white snow flakes were falling as myself and other members of the SGA prepared for our Bon-Fire nite (unfortunately it didn't happen though...the wood was too wet!). But I had trouble focusing on the huge pieces of wood because I couldn't stop thinking about the sunny Florida weather that I would soon be basking in. As a member of SGA I was lucky enough to travel to Orlando for the NCSL Leadership Conference.

I certainly learned a lot at the conference. We talked about our… Continue

A Rather Large Price to Pay

Hiiii everyone!

So remember how I was so happy to have a free weekend? haha, well I am definitely paying for it now... I guess there really are no free weekends in college. Oooo well, it was an amazing weekend and I wouldn't change a thing! A group of the ultimate frisbee team and I went to The Brass (a bar) to see one of our former professors Speese play with his band. Speese's band is called Cloud Party (look it up, they're pretty good!) and we were there all night until the bar… Continue

This Semester's Lessons.

Yoo whatsup everyone!!

This semester has gone by so fast, its unbelievable. I can't believe its almost December and that we only have two and half weeks of class left. There are plenty of things that I've learned from this semester and I want to share a few of them with you. I want to count down starting with number 5.

5) Just live your life.

T.I. and Rihanna's hit has been chart-toppin. So much so, people walk around just singing the lyrics without any beat.… Continue

Okay so I have discovered a song that is very intriguing to me. It is called "Tell me Why?" By: Taylor Swift. This has been an uplifting song that has gotten me through alot that has been going on in my life. I recommened everyone to listen to it... it is a country song but IT IS REALLY GOOD!
If you have a favorite song please tell me... I love discovering new music!

The Dark Knight is coming...

No, Christian Bale isn't visiting Albright College...but we are getting to see some of his work! I have been hard at work planning as junior class president to hold a 'Fall Fest' on campus. Myself and the other officers for our class saw a lull in 'season specific' activities for this season between the extreme heat of summer and biting cold of winter. Overall, Albright does a great job in catering to whichever season we are in; From thanksgiving lunch this week (which was amazing!) to mardi… Continue

What? A FREE weekend?

Hey gang,

This last month has gone by incredibly fast... and now we are approaching the last couple weeks of the semester!! Which means, lots of last minute work and definitely a lot less sleep. Albright has been particularly busy with several Sat. Open Houses from the Admissions Office and Campus Events like pumpkin carving, campus halloween party, athletic play-offs, and now the Domino Players are opening Love Labour's Lost tonight! I am hoping to get to the play next weekend after… Continue

Impressing an Admission Officer

I like articles that are quick and to the point. Liluye Jhala, formerly of Brown, wrote an article entitled, "Top 5 Ways to Impress an Admissions Officer". Some good advice for you college bound students that are looking to make a good impression. It's a little over the top and I wouldn't recommend being quite this scripted, but a nice guide.

Good Luck!

An Albright Tradition

Hello All!

This weekend, as some of you may very well know, was Albright's second Open House. And while it was just marvelous meeting perspective students, I must admit the highlight of the day came at the end, when the Ambassadors (the crazy people who give tours) ponded Loren Morgan. Loren is an Albright Alumna and as a student she was never ponded, so we figured it was due.

What is ponding you ask? Well, it is simple. On a your friend's birthday, you and other friends form a plan… Continue

Glove's Flavor's Frost. what?

New Musak: Johnny Cash's American IV. Possibly in the top 5 greatest albums I've ever heard. So tragic its tough to get through actually. His last album to be released before his death. Awesome.

New Movie: Burn After Reading See this movie. Hilarious. Completely irreverent.

Word of the Day: Shunpike - a side road used to avoid the toll on or the speed and traffic of a superhighway. As Costard says, "I will never buy or sell out of this… Continue

Yo Hoy A Pirate's Life for Me!

Hi everyone!

Sorry it's been awhile since the last blog, I started this one a week ago, and never got back to it until today because it's another crunch week for me....ahh to be a science major! I just took my evolutioanry psych exam last tuesday, friday was a vertebrate physiology exam & and today was an ecology exam. I know the professors don't mean to schedule their exams all at once... but they do! And it makes my life extremely stressful! haha, but I am managing, and at… Continue

All I can say is that I am proud...

If you have been living under a rock the past couple of days then I should let you in on a little secret...Barack Obama is the next president of the United States of America!! This election has been so very special to me for many reasons. First, being that this was the first year I was allowed to vote, I was very excited, but to be able to vote for a candidate that I truly loved, made it even better. Then, for that candidate to be the first African-American elected president, I am simply… Continue

PRESIDENT OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!! That has a nice ring to it doesn't it?

America has its first African American president! I would have never thought I would actually witness this day. This is historical not only because Obama is the first black president but because this proves that we can put aside our differences and come together as a nation. Last night when I saw people of every color together celebrating it just gave me and the rest of America hope. The best part about it is that this is my generation and most young people stuck it out and voted. This means… Continue
