yo yo yo yo

What’s up everyone! This is my first blog so I’ll go ahead and tell you little about myself. My name is Matthew John Osorio. I’m a sophomore and a pre-law and poly sci major. I play golf for Albright, I am also in a fraternity Pi Kappa Phi. Ok,so this summer has been great! I do absolutely NOTHING, I haven’t found a job yet so I kinda just hang out! Sometimes I would like to think of myself as a part time bum, but I do have fun as a full time job. I hope everyone is ready for a great year. For… Continue

A Word From the Wise- Alumni That is...

This past weekend Albright College hosted Sneak Peek and an Open House. Campus was quite hectic! It was full of eager incoming freshman, overzealous and hyped up current students, and even some pumped alumae, myself included. Now, I am an aluma and I have fully accepted this fact of life, however, we had some real alumae here this weekend too. By real I mean out of Albright and in the working world for over 2 months. One of the sessions at the Open House was an Alumnae Panel… Continue

Dropping SAT Requirement the Right Thing for Albright

Albright announced last week that it will no longer require standardized test scores to gain admission to the College. It is a decision that is right for Albright as the College attempts to select the best applicants. While standardized tests may have a place in other college and university admission criteria, they do not at Albright. To be authentic to and representative of the College’s values and beliefs, Albright can no… Continue

Ignore the bags under my eyes

So, this past weekend has been pretty hectic, yet at the same time it was a blast. The fun actually began on Thursday, when Kelly, Jared, Pam (all of whom are Albright bloggers) and I went to the John Mayer/Colbie Colliat concert in Camden, NJ. Though we did get stuck in traffic in Camden for about an hour (I don't know how we survived-haha), we made it just in time to see Colbie Colliat go on stage. Colbie was good, but was no match compared to the legend himself-Mr. John Mayer. John played… Continue

Sneak Peek!

Hello hello! It was certainly a beautiful day for our Sneak Peek visit.

For those who don't know...Sneak Peek is a day in which the incoming freshmen (and their families) visit our campus for a day and prepare themselves for the year to come here at Albright. They get to meet professors, academic advisors, as well as learning more about the school that will become their home!

It was a warm day outside...but it was beautiful none-the-less :o)

Tonight I'm going to… Continue

Weekend: All Albright, All the Time

Is it really a weekend if you work Saturday and Sunday? Since both days will be enjoyable, it will be fun, but a long weekend is ahead.

On Saturday 300+ future Albrightians from the class of 2012 will be on campus for Sneak Peek, a pre-orientation day for incoming students and their families. I am there just to assist and meet families. Hope to see you there, but please do not stop me at the end of the day, because I'm hoping to get out on the golf course after the program! Just… Continue

You Can Soulja Boy To Anything. July 11, 2008

"Soulja boy I tell 'em....Hey I got a new dance fo you all called the soulja boy....

(Yoooouuuu!) You gotta punch then crank back three times from left to right (Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh yeeeeaaaah!)"

Everyone should be familiar with the opening lyrics to the popular hit "Crank That" by Soulja Boy and for me, more than anyone, this is the song that defined my freshman year and continues to help me in my dancing adventures. Whether it was our pre-game warm up for Field Hockey or when I… Continue

A Spring Awakening

Last weekend, after an exhilarating evening of fireworks and food, three of my friends and I departed for Bayonne, New Jersey. Early in the morning we caught a bus to NYC to stand in line for student rush tickets to Spring Awakening, a Tony Award winning musical. We arrived early enough to get the tickets. Since our top goal was completed, the next objective was to find out what to do for the rest of the day. We wandered around Times Square taking in the sights and photo opportunities… Continue

Running

I have always enjoyed running, but honestly I have gotten away from it for a little and now I am in full force and loving it!!! The release of energy and power that I feel through running is undescribable. I plan to never lose touch with it again, because now I realize it is a part of my life that I need. I am thinking about joining the track team in the winter to give it one last go before I graduate!! I believe it is a good decision!!! Well that is all I really have to say… Continue

Jeff's Angels

July 7th, 2008. Arrive at CCV at 9AM sharp. Kids' Camp Flyer Day.

The scene was WONDERFUL.

I walked upstairs to our usually "Foxes and Frogs" VK teaching room to find a mob of adult and teenage volunteers. People were buzzing with conversation, the white-board was out and "drivers" were being designated, and everyone was excited with the enthusiasm of CCV's summer conferences quickly approaching. I was quickly greeted by six wonderful middle school girls who were excited… Continue

FIREWORKS......

Happy belated July 4th....if that's even right, but oh well. I can't say much about the weekend because there's not much to say...Oh..except this "not being 21 yet" thing is really getting to me!!!....I can't go anywhere....anywhere...and yes by anywhere I mean the club...

For the weekend, I went to brunch with my friend, the mall, try to go somewhere but like I said earlier....and finally ended up at the 5th street dinner which btw was fun. The only sad part about the weekend was… Continue

Last night my fortune cookie said, "life to you is a dashing and bold adventure"...

How can I even disagree with that statement? These are my collegues at work while at work (painting South Lounge in the Campus Center it looks awesome, if I do say so myself). I'm some lucky girl, right? Where in the world did I find this job? Oh yea, I'm still on campus...

But before I get there let's discuss...

So I just got back from another life adventure. It's actually Hollywood… Continue

Growing Up

I am starting to really like blogging... ALOT!!! Get ready because I love to talk and love to meet new people. Today was an interesting day. If you will sit back and let me tell you about it I think you might enjoy my story.

Today I went to downtown Philly to walk around the roots of my hometown. Being distant for a while has made me feel foreign to it. Today really opened my eyes. As I look around now at my life it is complete opposite of the life I once lived. I grew up in the city,… Continue

Brotherly Love

When I was 14, I clearly remember my dad lecturing me about the importance of family.

"Remember, Melissa, " he said. "It is important to form solid relationships with your brothers now, because later on, they're most likely to be the ones that'll stick around."

Now, of course, at age 14, I thought my dad was a "weirdo" and I wanted nothing to do with the statement. Yet, I've never forgotten his words, and today, I greatly value the truth he spoke. I have three… Continue

Its what I would like to call "Life"

Over the past year, I have learned numerous things in life, first: not to under estimate ANYTHING. Just when you think you have it all, it can be pulled from underneath of you. But I learned that this is what makes you stronger in life. Its the things you don't realize until you lost them. Sometimes you will get them back and sometimes not, you can only hope for so long. I joined in numerous activities on campus including: Ambassadors, POPS, Republicans Club, and Sigma Kappa Sorority, just to… Continue
