It is my first summer staying here at Albright instead of heading back to NJ. I never actually realized how much work they do while we are gone. I mean I figured change lock rooms. But, there is so much more. They are working by the statidum to make it better. There are basketball camps here that use the facilities and make sure that things keep operating just like the caf. There are people working on acre projects making sure Albright does great research. One of our professors in the…

This blog is most important to those who are studying or thinking of becoming a teacher, like myself. I found this very controversial article that draws a correlation between the salary rate of teachers and the success of the children in the school districts. If you are truly commited in becoming a teacher, it shouldn't matter the salary, no matter what you are being paid it should not effect children's ability to learn. I believe taking on the job as a teacher is one, if not the most important…

Hey gang,
I am sorry for not being more diligent in my blogging, but these last couple of weeks have really flown by! We are now approaching my least favorite part of the year... the end of summer! Not only does this mean that winter is approaching, but this also means that my ACRE research is over & a new semester is only weeks away! This is my last full week of ACRE research, and despite the setbacks and challenges... I am sad to see it end. I learned some really awesome things…

Despite his death on Friday,
Randy Pausch's Last Lecture will continue to inspire millions. If you haven't viewed on YouTube, I highly recommend viewing the lecture. I received his book for my birthday and hope to get to it during our fall travel season.

Hey everyone. So im going to take a different approach to blogging today. I am going to offer advice to Albright College. What happens with the information is up to the administration; however, it is only intended to help the college and possibly provoke some change to benefit us all. This new information is something easily shared, widely known, but for some reason.. not employed by Albright.
so to start... I merely ask you all just to imagine the perfect college setting, a…

McCarren Park- Brooklyn
I took my little cousin to the park to play a little since the rain had stopped for a bit. There was a huge line around the park... I didn't realize it until I was listening to someone strumming a guitar that there was a concert in the park today. So we stayed for a while and listened to the Ting Tings rehearse there song, "Shut up and let me go." There were other local bands playing (MGMT, and Black Moth Super Rainbow). It was nice to listen to them rehearse but…

161 years later and we are still going strong.
LIBERIA: From the word liberate meaning to be free. We are the oldest independent country in Africa, moreso, we are the first country in all of Africa to have a female commander-in-chief. Liberia was founded 1821-1822 by the American Colonization Society for freed slaves. Yes, my maternal great-great-grandfather was a slave. We gained our independence on July 26, 1847 and has been so eversince.
Everyday I miss home more and…

So there we were having some dinner at the Shake Shack; a restaurant in Madison Square Park (23rd and Madison). It was my first time and I was excited to see how the food was. I really had no idea what to order so I had my friend who had been there before order for me. My burger was absolutely heavenly. It tasted like no other burger I've ever had, not too greasy but not too lean, just right. As we were finishing my meal it started to rain. We ran out of the park and headed for the subway. When…

My summer has been a whirlwind. After I got back from the beach I got a call from one of the internships I had applied to. I came in on a Thursday for an interview and by the next Tuesday I was already moved into my aunts apartment for the duration of the internship. Everything happened very fast; so fast in fact that I barely had time to find my own place to live. I've been bunking at my aunts place in Williamsburg Brooklyn since i got here. It's been great! I'm living in the middle of…

As a member of the Albright Field Hockey team the summer is an excellent time to get in shape and build one's skills. However, for me, finding the time to get to the gym has become extremely hard considering I've misplaced my running shoes.
I have looked all over campus, as I do my many summer activities, for those shoes. They didn't turn up at the Admissions office where I am a Student Ambassador. The shoes weren't sitting under my desk in the Summer Conference office where I am currently…

Ok well since I'm a child and family studies major, and am about to enter my 3rd year of college, I figured I should get some field work in my area of study. So...along with working at Victoria's Secret I started working at a day care this summer. Talk about an eye-opener! I work with children mostly from a poor urban environment and I have to tell you sometimes its really sad...Most of them are in single-family homes, sometimes have an odor and on occasion several bumps and bruises. As…

Hey yall. I hope you are trying to stay cool because I know this Heat Wave is literally cooking up a storm. My approach to staying cool includes jumping in any body of water possible.. including 25 foot cliffs and going waterskiing!
Anyway, today I wanted to share with you something of interest to me. As some of you may know and hopefully those of you who don't know me so well may soon find out, I have a slight green thumb. Now I don't like to push my point of view down others…

Hello! Simon here! Reporting from Singapore on a hot, humid Monday night (Monday morning for you guys back in the US). I’d like to introduce myself and give a bit on my background before I go into what’s going on in my life and what’s going to happen in the time yet to come.
Well, as my page informs you, my name is Simon and I now live in New Jersey after originally moving from Australia just about 7 years ago, when I was 13. For those of you interested in my experience in Australia,…

Hi everyone,
I hope the summer is treating you well, and that your's doesn't seem to be going so fast like mine is! I just realized last night that I only have 2 more weeks left of my research project, which also means only 2 more weekends at Albright... boo. While my project has been experiencing set backs in the lab (my gels that I separate the DNA on isn't turning out... or is contaminated-which is just as bad).. I have been extracting the DNA from the toe clippings that we took…
